Interview with Opiyo Okach

Kenyan choreographer Opiyo Okach was in residency with ACE dance and music Monday 1st -Wednesday 3rd June, in the run-up to his performance for the Bass Festival launch at the Dancexchange that Thursday.

Opiyo was teaching the dancers his fluid movement style and improvisational techniques.  I managed to grab a few moments to chat to Opiyo before he left about his intentions for the residency with ACE dance and music and how he found working with the dancers.

His solo show at the Dancexchange the following evening was astounding – Fiona Handscomb has written a beautifully descriptive review at West Midlands Dance.
